In July 1977 I discovered my passion for assisting women through one of the most transformative and challenging experiences - the journey of bringing a new life into the world.  As a teenager, I was fortunate to have several friends who invited me to help them prepare for their baby's arrival.  Whether it was meticulously cleaning their space or crafting vibrant and inspiring signs for laboring moms to focus on during childbirth, I eagerly embraced every opportunity to contribute to the preparations for a new arrival.  The first time I witnessed the miracle of birth, I was in awe and a deep sense of wonder. It left an indelible mark on me and I am grateful to be a part of this timeless and wondrous miracle.

Over the last 40 years, I've been blessed to work with healthcare professionals who have taught me how to support mothers, their partners, and families before, during, and after childbirth.  I am certified through DONA International and have lived most of the last 35 years in a remote community in Alaska.  I am honored to have attended over 195 births in a variety of settings which include home births, birthing centers, and hospital births.  Currently I am living in Wasilla, AK and serving in the MatSu Valley to Eagle River, JBER, and Anchorage.  I'm passionate about moms not being alone during a time when they are vulnerable and need assurance and support.  Memories from these experiences last a lifetime!

Research shows that continuous birth support leads to shorter, easier labor and better birth outcomes.  I am a certified BRM® pro and offer 1:1 assessments and extra prenatal visits to implement principles, information and tools that will better prepare you for birth.

After birth it is normal to feel overwhelmed during the transition to parenthood with less sleep and hormone changes.  Postpartum care includes hands-on baby care, emotional support to parents, basic home chores, errands, education regarding feeding, safe sleep practices, developmental ways to interact with your new baby, and overnight care of baby to ensure parents get needed rest.  It truly is an honor to give the compassionate support and care during each of the 4 trimesters!

Thank you to all the past families and to future ones for inviting me to accompany you as you welcome your little one into the world with the best beginning possible!

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:13-14
